Kompetr is a web application that helps groups of friends organize and track regular sports games, leagues, and statistics. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data when you use our website and services.
This policy applies to kompetr.com, the Kompetr web app, and related support communications. It does not cover third-party sites or services that may be linked from Kompetr.
We collect account information (such as name, email address, and login credentials), league and game data (including league names, schedules, attendance, scores, and player statistics), chat messages and chat images you send, support/contact communications, payment and subscription records where applicable, security or anti-abuse signals, and usage or technical data (such as IP address, device/browser information, log data, and cookies).
We use data to provide and maintain the service, manage accounts and leagues, calculate stats, send essential transactional emails, respond to support requests, process payments and subscriptions, improve product quality, monitor search and technical performance, prevent spam and automated abuse, and comply with legal obligations. Optional analytics, marketing, or advertising activities occur only if you consent where legally required.
When GDPR applies, we process data based on contract performance (to deliver the service and paid features), your consent (for optional analytics, marketing, or advertising cookies), our legitimate interests (to secure, monitor, debug, and improve the service, prevent abuse, answer support requests, and understand search performance), and legal obligations (including accounting, tax, compliance, and payment records).
We use cookies and similar technologies for essential app functionality, analytics, marketing/advertising, security and anti-abuse protection, payment-related checkout or redirects, and preferences. Essential technologies are always active to keep Kompetr secure and functional. Where required, Google Privacy & Messaging or another consent message may be used to collect and apply choices for analytics and advertising cookies before those non-essential purposes are activated.
Where required, Google Privacy & Messaging or another Google-certified CMP may collect consent for Google advertising and analytics purposes. If analytics consent allows it, we use Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic and product usage. If advertising consent allows it, we may use Google AdSense to show and measure ads for Free users and Google Ads for conversion tracking, remarketing, or campaign measurement where enabled. We also use Google Search Console to monitor search performance and technical SEO for kompetr.com. These providers may process data under their own privacy terms and cookie policies.
We share data only with trusted service providers that help us operate Kompetr, and only as necessary to provide, secure, support, and improve the service. These may include Google Analytics, Google AdSense, Google Ads, and Google Search Console for analytics, advertising, campaign measurement, and search monitoring; Paddle for payments, subscriptions, taxes, invoices, fraud prevention, checkout, and customer portal services; Google Workspace for support and contact emails; Resend for transactional emails such as account verification, password reset, invites, and notifications; and Cloudflare Turnstile for bot and spam protection. Fonts are served through the app using Next.js font optimization; we do not currently load Google Fonts directly from Google servers in visitors' browsers. We do not sell personal data. We may disclose data if required by law.
We retain account data while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the service. Chat messages and chat images are automatically deleted after 12 months from creation unless longer retention is required for legal, security, or fraud investigations. League and game records are kept while needed for league history and statistics, then deleted or anonymized when no longer needed. Payment and subscription records are kept as needed for billing, accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, and legal obligations. Usage logs and technical/security records are kept only as long as reasonably needed to secure, debug, improve, and protect the service. Retention periods are based on the type of data, user expectations, operational need, legal requirements, security risks, and whether the data can be anonymized.
You can request account deletion in account settings or by contacting privacy@kompetr.com. After a verified deletion request, we remove account identifiers from active systems so the same email address can be used again. Chat messages and private uploads are deleted according to our retention rules or earlier where required. Historical league and game statistics may be kept only in anonymized form so league records remain usable without identifying you. We may retain limited records where necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal claims, accounting, tax, or compliance obligations.
Where GDPR applies, you have the right to request access to your personal data, rectification of inaccurate data, erasure (the "right to be forgotten"), restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing based on legitimate interests. You may withdraw consent at any time for consent-based processing, without affecting processing that happened before withdrawal. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. Under CCPA/CPRA, California residents may also request to know, delete, and correct personal information and opt out of sale/sharing. We do not sell personal data and do not discriminate for exercising privacy rights. You can use in-app account settings for deletion/export requests or contact privacy@kompetr.com for any privacy request.
Your data may be processed or stored outside your country, including outside the EU/EEA, by Kompetr or trusted service providers that help us operate the service. Where GDPR requires safeguards for international transfers, we rely on appropriate mechanisms such as European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy decisions, and technical and organizational security measures. We only transfer data where we have a legal basis to do so, such as providing the service, complying with legal obligations, or using providers that support Kompetr operations.
Kompetr is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date and may provide additional notice if changes are material.
